The day following the Coronation, Pedras held its competition to mark the occasion. Twelve 'kings' and twelve 'queens' entered and they were divided into mixed pairs. Geoff Wright kindly arranged and oversaw matters. Two rounds of ten ends each with bowlers using three woods produced six winners who then played each other for the main prize with the six losers doing the same for their own prize. There were also prizes for the first two touchers bowled on the fifth ends of each round.
